At times I was amazed by my incredible ability to turn a bad situation into an even worse one. Quite masterfully.
I would take a problem that was already difficult enough, look it straight in the eye and say: Wait, I can make this a little more complicated.
Not because I did not know better.
But because, at the wrong moment, I talked too much, reacted too quickly, stayed silent when I should have spoken, or tried to save something I should have let go of long before.
Then you realize an uncomfortable truth: some problems are not created by life. You create some of them yourself while trying to prove that you have things under control.
Of course, later you neatly call it all “experience” to make it sound more noble.
It is worth recognizing that moment before your next reaction: will what I am about to say help solve the problem, or merely help me defend myself a little longer?
