We cannot control every circumstance, but we can learn how to respond to them.
Understanding and accepting these limits gives you the ability to skillfully cope with minor or persistent life challenges. This is a vital life skill we call resilience.
Resilience means accepting reality, even when it falls short of the fantasy you’ve carried within yourself or differs from the reality you once had.
You can fight against it. You can spend your time lamenting what you lack. Or you can accept what you have and try to turn it into something good.
As you move forward, life will inevitably challenge you, again and again. No matter how many times you fall, keep your head up and keep moving forward. It’s worth figuring out which next step makes sense, rather than expecting the same solution to every difficulty.
Not every challenge can be overcome alone. Accepting your limits also means knowing when to seek help, when to change the circumstances, or when to abandon a plan that is no longer sustainable.
