Modesty used to be a sign of strength. Today, it is often seen as a weakness. We live in a time when everything is loud: loud successes, loud opinions, loud titles. Everyone is an expert. Everyone is a leader. Everyone is a visionary. In such an environment, I often find it hard to tell real work from its presentation.

The true masters of their craft are rarely the loudest people in the room. People who really know their stuff often listen more than they speak. Knowledge brings one interesting thing: humility. When you truly grasp how complex the world is, you realize how much more you have to learn. Perhaps that’s why humility is rare today.

Not because people have become worse, but because appearing successful has become more important than actually growing. Yet one truth remains.

What has actually been accomplished, who benefited from it, and what can a person explain once the polished facade is stripped away?
