We spend a lot of energy arguing with ourselves about what has already happened. We rewind the conversation, change our answers and imagine an outcome where everything was different. In that version of the past, the next decision is always waiting.
Facts can be painful and unfair. Accepting that they happened means knowing where we are starting from. The right to ask for correction still remains, as well as the responsibility for the part that was ours.
It is only when we separate what we wish was from what is that we see the real possibilities. Something can still be changed, something saved, and something finished. The decision becomes clearer when we no longer ask the present to fix the entire past first.
