I believe it is important to say clearly what we believe, especially when a decision concerns our work or relationships. If we keep silent for the sake of an easier moment, the other person may mistakenly understand that we agree.

Still, clarity does not require us to express every opinion immediately and without reflection. The timing, the purpose, and the way we leave room for the other person to speak all matter.

I can express disagreement without demanding that I win the conversation. I can also choose not to continue an argument that no longer allows for understanding. What matters is that silence or speech is a conscious choice, with an honest regard for what is important to me.
