I am not equally productive every day, nor is every idea I have a good one. If I demand that I constantly uphold a particular image of success, an ordinary mistake can easily become much larger than it is.

I can admit that I did not do a particular job well enough without dismissing everything I know. Making a correction requires a specific assessment: where the mistake lies and what I can change.

It matters to me that my identity does not depend on the latest praise or criticism. Different abilities, relationships, and responsibilities remain part of my life even on a bad day. This makes it easier to take responsibility without needing one mistake to explain the whole person.
