There’s an interesting change that happens when you start to succeed. It’s not just your life that changes. The way people see you changes, too. When you’re just starting out, everyone has advice. Everyone knows how you should do things. Everyone has an opinion. But when you start getting results, something strange happens.
The same people suddenly fall silent. Or they grow skeptical. Or they start explaining why it’s “just luck.” Not because they mean any harm, but because it’s hard for people to accept a change that shifts their view of the world. We don’t always know why someone’s attitude has changed.
It’s important to distinguish between constructive criticism and belittlement, rather than interpreting every disagreement in the same way. So don’t expect everyone to understand your path. Some will support it. Some will observe it. Some will criticize it. All of this is normal. The only question that really matters is: Do you understand why you set out on this path?
This perspective lets you weigh their feedback without letting it dictate the course of your work.
