Are you a CEO? Bravo. Are you a millionaire? Bravo. Are you the prime minister? Bravo. A Ph.D.? Bravo. But… what kind of person are you? It’s not a problem that you’ve succeeded. The problem is when, because of that, you start to think you’re worth more than others. Because the truth is simple: on the path to all of that, at one point you were just starting out, and you needed space to show what you knew.
Someone gave you a chance, extended a hand, or at least got out of your way. So don’t step on others. Not because you can’t, but because you shouldn’t. Others may have been cruel to you, but that’s no excuse to become the same.
If you have more opportunities and influence today, make room for those who are just starting out.
