It is easy to focus on things that we have paid for or that we still want to buy. In such a calculation, we can overlook the relationships, abilities and possibilities that we use every day without thinking about their value.

Love for family, friendship and the opportunity to learn cannot be reduced to an amount. However, they are not inexhaustible resources either. They need time, care and presence, and neglect can have consequences.

Gratitude takes on meaning when it affects schedules and actions. We can allocate time for the person who matters to us or use what we know more carefully. Thus, we recognize value beyond the list of material things.
