Family connection is not exhausted by a formal relationship. People experience it through attention, reliability, and the way they take part in one another's lives. A document alone cannot establish that part of closeness.
Still, feelings are not a substitute for real responsibilities. We need to discuss needs, care, and boundaries, especially when relationships or circumstances change. Not every family is organised in the same way.
It matters that belonging is not made conditional on constant silence or giving up oneself. Closeness has more room when people can speak honestly and care is visible in their actions. Such a relationship needs tending even after a major family event.
