The system can record how long a task takes, breaks and departures from the plan. However, the information itself does not explain why it happened or whether the worker had the conditions needed to meet the expectation.
If we use measurement without talking, there is a risk that we interpret slower work as a lack of commitment. Maybe the task was different, the tool didn't work or the person was helping a colleague. This should be checked before concluding.
Technology can help us identify a problem, but management remains responsible for the decision. People need to know what is being measured, why and how they can explain or dispute data that misrepresents them.
I expect the system to improve the work, and not to enable the avoidance of responsibility by saying that the decision was made by an algorithm. The figure needs to be understood in the context of the work and the person whose work it describes.
