There were moments when I accepted jobs without much thought. There were periods when I had to put up with superiors who held a position but lacked the knowledge or education to justify it. In those moments, one often thinks that this is unfair. That the world is wrongly arranged. That effort and intelligence are meaningless.
Only later do you realize something important. I later understood more about those periods than I did while I was going through them.
They teach patience. They build character. They show you the kind of leader you never want to become.
Humiliation isn’t necessary for learning. Still, bad relationships help us see more clearly how we do not want to lead others. Those lessons, when they accumulate over the years, become the foundation on which you later stand much more firmly. That’s why today I look at many of those moments differently.
They didn’t stop me. They shaped me.
