Two people can go through a similar event and understand it differently. One sees a reason not to try again, the other something they want to do differently. Circumstances, support and what they have gone through before affect that experience.
Therefore, one should not reduce other people's pain to the wrong perspective. Loss and injustice have real consequences that cannot be removed by changing the words.
However, when we have enough space, we can check the conclusion we carry from that experience. Does it warn us of a specific risk or does it stop us in advance in every similar situation? Understanding the difference can help with your next decision.
