Sometimes we are helped by one person who seriously listens to what we are trying to do. They do not have to promise success. It is enough to notice a possibility that we ourselves did not see clearly.

Such support becomes more useful when it is concrete: a question that clarifies an idea, a recommendation about whom to contact, or feedback on the work we have already done. Encouragement then connects to a next step.

We can also offer that attention to another. It is important that we do not promise what we do not know or make the decision for them. It helps a person to know that they have been heard and that they have someone to come back to with a new attempt.
