On the way to the top, a person must never forget who they were before they start thinking they have become somebody. Success is a curious test of character.
As you rise, so does the way others see you. The numbers grow, the projects grow, the contacts and opportunities grow. But the one thing that must not grow is the ego.
The most dangerous moment is not when you are at the bottom. It is when you begin to believe you are above other people.
I remember the days when everything was uncertain. When decisions were hard. When every project was a struggle. When there was no room for error. Those days are the foundation. They are part of your identity. They are why you stand firm today.
If you forget where you started, you lose your footing. If you forget the people who stood beside you before you were “somebody,” you lose yourself.
Reaching the top does not change a person. It only reveals who they have always been.
So, as you move forward, take humility with you. It is the one thing that can keep you truly great even when others begin to see you that way.
