School can be a place where a child learns the attitude towards a common obligation. How we leave a shared space after using it, listen to others, and help with assignments has meaning beyond the individual grade.

Such contribution should be appropriate for age and conditions. It must not replace the professional work of adults or become a way to punish children. It is important that they understand why they are participating in something and that responsibility is fairly shared.

Knowledge and attitude towards others can develop together. When the rules have a clear meaning, the shared space becomes part of the collaborative experience. It is more specific than asking children to simply be polite without the opportunity to practice such behavior.
