An organization can also be threatened by poor decisions and a stubborn refusal to address a known problem. When everyone sees the problem, but no one speaks up. When the truth is filtered so no one is offended. When bad decisions are repeated because they feel “less painful” than conflict. Then it’s worth checking who is responsible for the decision and what is preventing them from making it.

In such systems, the obedient advance, not the capable. The vocal, not the brave. Those who nod, not those who think. Leadership begins when you stop protecting people’s comfort and start protecting the organization’s health. If keeping the peace is more important to you than solving problems, you’re not leading the team.

You’re maintaining an illusion.
