We can act carefully and still be disliked by someone. Different needs, beliefs and expectations cannot always be reconciled, so the constant attempt to achieve this can become an exhausting obligation.
It is worth hearing the remark when it addresses a specific action and its consequences. It should not be dismissed just because it is unpleasant. However, another person's dissatisfaction is not always a request to change what is important to us.
A boundary can be calm and clear. We can respect the other person, explain our choice and accept that we will not agree. Thus, the responsibility towards others remains present without the promise that we will meet every expectation.
