In life, we face challenges for which we are unprepared. Some we have chosen through our work or personal decisions, while others we had no choice in.
How we respond matters, but it does not control everything that follows. Not every hardship is an opportunity, and a poor outcome is not proof that we were wrong.
We can assess what we know, what we’re missing, and which part of the problem we can solve right now. Sometimes that means trying again, sometimes changing our plan, and sometimes talking to someone who can help us.
I find this approach more helpful than the expectation that we should immediately see every difficulty as something good. First, we need to understand what’s really happening.
