Courage doesn't have to look like a confident appearance or a big decision. Sometimes it can be seen in admitting how difficult it is for us and no longer expecting ourselves to sustain behaviour we cannot manage at the moment.
Such recognition can open up a conversation with a person we trust. It can help to reduce the scope of obligations or ask for support, instead of hiding everything for fear of other people's assessment.
There is no need to promise ourselves that we will emerge stronger from every difficulty. It is more important to make room for what we need now and treat ourselves less harshly. And a small, sustainable step can be demanding enough to earn respect.
