School and university provide knowledge, professional language and a way to understand complex problems. However, completing our education does not resolve in advance every situation in which we will use this knowledge.

Practical work opens up questions that did not have a ready answer in the textbook. You need to talk to people, recognize the limitations and assess the consequences of the decision. The theory remains important, because it helps us avoid reducing experience to a series of personal impressions.

Learning continues when we are ready to test an assumption and admit a gap in knowledge. A degree can be a good start to such work. Its value does not require us to pretend that we have nothing more to learn.
