Learning can be easier with a person who recognizes a mistake that we do not see ourselves. They can show how they approach the task, explain why, and give us feedback as we try.
A mentor does not have to have answers for our entire career. It is useful to agree on the area in which they can help, what we expect from the conversation and how we will apply what we have learned.
It is also important that we can ask a question or disagree. If mentorship becomes a requirement to copy someone else's life, we have lost its meaning. A good relationship allows us to develop our own judgment, supported by the experience we lack.
