Some conversations turn into repetition of the same claims. We no longer check what was said, but try to get the other person to accept our version.
Then it is worth stopping and asking if there is anything else that can be clarified. If the other side changes the subject, twists words, or rejects every specific example, further explanation may not help.
We can end a conversation without offending and without claiming to know the other's intention. Not every misunderstanding is a sign that someone is intentionally misunderstanding us. But we have the right not to continue an exchange that no longer leads to an agreement or a better understanding.
