If we are used to a mistake being met only with criticism, we can start to avoid attempts from which we would learn something. We wait until we are completely sure, and only then do we take the first step.

Such certainty rarely exists. Learning requires space to try, notice what doesn't work and correct the procedure. This does not mean that the consequences of a mistake are not important.

It is worth distinguishing carelessness from trying to master something new. Responsibility includes acknowledging and correcting a mistake, but also the conditions under which it can be discussed without humiliation.
