A single list of signs of success can hardly suit different people. Work, income, free time and family obligations have different importance in different periods of life.
Each choice takes up space that we cannot simultaneously give to everything else. Greater business responsibilities may demand time that we want to save for other needs. Therefore, the goal should be evaluated together with its price.
It is useful to determine what constitutes a good enough life for us now, with the possibility of changing the answer later. Then the result remains important, but it ceases to be a constant obligation to meet someone else's schedule of desires.
