An unfair outcome hurts both because of the loss and because of how it came about. The expectation that we immediately find the good side of everything adds another demand to what we already carry.
First of all, questions that have real consequences remain: what happened, what can be disputed, who to turn to and what to protect. Acknowledging the injustice brings clarity to those questions. Embellishing what happened only postpones them.
Afterwards comes the decision of how much more time we will give to what has ended. Sometimes we keep looking for a fix, sometimes we choose a different direction. Life afterwards does not require us to be grateful for injustice. It requires a space in which it will not determine each subsequent choice.
