We can carefully prepare a job or a life change, but part of the outcome remains beyond our control. Other people's decisions and unexpected circumstances do not ask how much time we invested in the plan.

Planning therefore makes sense as preparation, not as a promise of control. It helps to know what we have, what is important to us and how we will react if conditions change.

When the result does not materialise, we can check our part in what happened without attributing every consequence to our own fault. How we treated people during work is also important. The outcome remains important, but it is not the only measure of the experience we have gone through.
